Cédric Desmonts, medical physicist at the University Hospital of Caen, gives this testimony on his use of the Radiation Dose Monitor (RDM) solution.

After one year of using the DACS RDM solution, what is your assessment?

Cédric Desmonts : « We’ve been using the DACS Radiation Dose Monitor (RDM) solution in our facility for one year now. This has been a real plus in managing radiation protection of the patients in our institution, and we have seen real progress regarding the patient’s dose management in our medical physics department. The relationship with the different medical teams has evolved positively since we’re using a common tool that makes a seamless transmission of the dose information. The tool’s reliable and intuitive interface has allowed us to launch several projects, including a patient follow-up in interventional radiology to better prevent the appearance of deterministic effects. And we’ve also been able to set up local reference levels within the scanner services and interventional radiology. Overall, we are very satisfied with the RDM solution which is very reliable and intuitive.»

What has been the impact of RDM’s deployment, technically and organizationally?

Cédric Desmonts : « The technical installation was completed rapidly; and it was totally transparent to the users, so we’ve been able to get results very quickly. And at the organizational level, the involvement of the different professionals in the services is making the project viable for the long-term, so that we can develop a true radiation safety culture within our institution.»
